An amazing summer dessert idea for the barbeque!
You can use purchased pound cake OR make your own pound cake using the "7up" Best Pound Cake Recipe which I use (scroll down to link in ingredients list).
You can easily make fruit substitutions to include your favourite fruits to barbeque.
If you choose to, you can also use purchased chocolate sauce to make the grilling experience easier:)
Ingredients
FOR THE CAKE AND FRUIT
1 pound cake, sliced into 8 individual servings (See: 7up Best Pound Cake Recipe)
4 bananas, halved lengthwise
2 pears, cored and seeded, cut into wedges
8 slices of pineapple
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. maple syrup
1 tbsp. Grand Marnier, optional
1 cup whipped cream
FOR THE CHOCOLATE
cup whipping cream
6 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped, or chocolate chips
Directions
Make chocolate sauce on the side burner of the grill, or on a stove-top.
In a small pan bring whipping cream to a simmer, remove from heat, add the chocolate, and mix, with a fork, until smooth.
Set aside.
Prepare grill for low heat.
Ensure grate is clean and oiled.
When grilling fruit an oil spray container that can be filled with the oil of your choice is a great aid. It works well for leafy green salads too!

In a small pan, on a side burner, (or on a stove-top), combine the butter, maple syrup and, (optional), Grand Marnier, and heat on low until well combined and butter is melted.
Brush the maple syrup sauce on the prepared fruit, and grill, continuing to turn and baste the fruit with the sauce, for about 4 minutes total time.
Fruit should be tender, and well glazed.
Transfer the grilled fruit to a plate, and cut the fruit pieces in half.
Place the pound cake slices on the grill, grilling and turning a few times, about every minute, until browned with grill marks showing.
Transfer the pound cake to serving plates, top with fruit, drizzle with chocolate sauce, and add a dollop of whipped cream and a few fresh raspberries for garnish.
Serves 8.
