The heat during grilling caramelizes the natural sugars in the fruit, producing amazing flavour.

The fruit choices listed in the ingredients can easily be substituted with your choice of fruit.

Surprise your family and friends with this grilled fruit salad recipe!

Note - Be sure to keep a close watch while grilling fruit.

Fruits with a high sugar content can change from golden brown to over done or burnt very quickly.

It is advised not to leave the grilling fruit unattended.

Most fruit just needs to be grilled till warm, tender, a few grill marks showing, and general caramelizing.

Ingredients

1 fresh pineapple
2 bananas
1 fresh mango
1 fresh papaya
1 fresh peach
1/8 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne)
1/2 cup sour cream (can use light or reduced fat variety)
1 tbsp. orange flavoured sugar-sweetened drink mix crystals (Example: "Kool-Aid)
1/4 fresh raspberries, optional
1/4 fresh blueberries, optional

Directions

Preheat or prepare the grill for medium-high heat.

Clean and oil the grates.

In a bowl, combine the sour cream, orange flavoured crystals, and the ground red pepper and stir until well combined.

Refrigerate until ready to use.

Prepare the fruit by peeling, pitting, coring and cutting it into wedges.

Slice the bananas cross wise into about 1/2" thick pieces.

A spray container (similar to the one pictured below) for the oil of your choice is a great tool when grilling fruit!

Grill the fruit for about 2 - 3 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Turn fruit over, and continue grilling for about 2 - 3 minutes or until done. (Some grill marks should show.)

Remove grilled fruit from the barbeque, and arrange it on a platter.

Drizzle, or spoon, the sour cream mixture over the fruit, add the fresh raspberries and blueberries (optional) and serve immediately.

Or, cover fruit platter, and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Remove from fridge, and spoon sour cream mixture over the grilled fruit just prior to serving.

Enjoy!
