Pears are my absolute favourite fruit to grill. The heat caramelizes the fruit and the taste is simply amazing!
You can grill pears alone, or in combination with other fruits, for example, make a grilled fruit salad, or grilled fruit skewers.
Barbecued pears make great appetizers, snacks, pear lettuce salads, desserts or dinners.
Grilled pears are a great choice of a side dish to grilled pork or grilled sausages.
Our family favourite dessert on the grill is grilled pears topped with ice cream, frozen yogurt, Greek yogurt or sour cream (see image below).
Try this fabulous dessert treat!
My husband loves ♥ grilled pears with ice cream and caramel sauce on top!
Surprise your family and friends with tasty, healthy fruit prepared on the barbeque.
Take advantage of grilling pears when they are "in season" in the area in which you live.
Pears that have been allowed to ripen on the tree are the best tasting pears, and will provide the best texture for grilling the fruit.
Ensure the pears are ripe, but not over ripe and mushy.
I use Bartlett variety of pears, but almost any variety will grill nicely.

Preheat or prepare the grill for medium heat.
Clean and oil the grates.
Cut the pears in half, and remove the cores.
Pears can be peeled, or left with the peel on. (Some cooks believe that keeping the peel on the fruit helps it to maintain its shape and structure as it cooks.)
Refillable oil spray bottles similar to the one I use are great aids when grilling fruit, for adding oil to green salads, and more!

Brush (or spray) the pears with a light, neutral oil, for example canola oil or grape seed oil.
I like to use my oil spray bottle (see image above).
I love this handy spray bottle, and I like the fact that I can add any type of oil I choose.
Place pears, cut side down, on the grill.
Barbeque for about 3 - 4 minutes, covered, turn, and continue to cook for another 3 - 4 minutes, until grill marked and tender.
Tip - Top grilled pears with ice cream, frozen yogurt, sour cream or Greek style yogurt. Top with caramel sauce - So Yummy!
