This Homemade Peach Ice Cream Recipe is a great recipe to use when fresh peaches are in season, and available locally.

When the peaches are ripe, prepare extra quantities of this frozen peach treat, and delight your family and friends whenever the occasion for of scrumptiously scrumptious ice cream treat arises!
This ice cream will keep in the freezer for up to 4 months.
Ingredients
3/4 cup whipping cream
1 cup fresh **custard sauce (see recipe below/scroll down, or use your own)
2 tbsp. low-fat natural yogurt
4 peeled, pitted, and sliced fresh peaches
Directions
In a large bowl, using an electric hand mixer, whip the cream until thick.
Fold in the custard, and then stir in the yogurt.
Pour mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe container.
Cover and freeze for about 1 hour, or until ice crystals begin to form around the edges.
Remove mixture from the freezer, and mash well.
Return mixture to the freezer, and allow to freeze for about 2 hours, or until mixture has a "mushy" texture.
Remove mixture from the freezer, and mash well again.
Puree the peaches in a food processor or a blender, until smooth.
Stir the peaches into the cream mixture and mix well with a spoon or whisk.
Freeze mixture for another 2 - 3 hours, or until firm.
If frozen for longer, transfer the ice cream to the refrigerator about 1 - 2 hours before serving, or leave ice cream at room temperature for about 30 minutes to 1 hours to allow ice cream to soften somewhat.
Serve homemade peach ice cream with fresh fruit or mint sprigs, if desired.
**Recipe for Fresh Custard Sauce
Ingredients
1 cup milk
1 or 2 drops of vanilla essence
3 egg yolks
1/4 cup caster sugar
1 tsp. corn flour
Directions
Combine the milk and the vanilla essence in a pan and warm over low heat but do not let the liquid boil.
In a bowl, beat the egg yolks, sugar and the corn flour until creamy, add the warm milk, and continue to beat until combined.
Return the mixture to the pan, and cook, stirring constantly to avoid sticking and burning, until the custard thickens.
