A great punch recipe that can be made far in advance and taken out of the freezer when you need it!
This recipe makes enough to serve 24 people all together, or, remove as much of the frozen peach mixture that you wish to serve at one time, and keep the rest for a later time.
The peach slush mixture is stored, in containers, in the freezer for up to 3 months.
When it is ready to be served, take it out of the freezer about 1 hour ahead of time, break it into chunk size pieces with a fork, place it in the punch bowl OR drink dispenser, and add the carbonated soda!
Ingredients
3 cups water
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 - 3 oz. pkg. size - peach-flavoured gelatin (Example: "Jello")
1 - 29 oz. can peach slices in light syrup
4 - 11 oz. cans peach nectar
1/2 cup lemon juice (bottled is fine)
8 - 10 oz. bottles ginger ale or club soda
Directions
In a large pan, combine the water, sugar and the flavoured gelatin.
Bring the above mixture to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar and gelatin.
Place the peach slices (including the syrup) in a blender, cover and blend until a smooth consistency is attained.
In a large bowl (3 to 4 gallon capacity) mix together with a large wooden spatula, the gelatin mixture, the blended peach slices, peach nectar, and the lemon juice, until well combined.
Divide the peach mixture among 4 - 1 quart size containers.
Cover, and freeze overnight or until frozen.
Use when frozen, or up to within 3 months.
To serve, remove the desired number of containers with the peach slush from the freezer to room temperature for about 1 hour.
Break the slush apart using a fork.
Add the pieces of peach slush to a jug, punch bowl or drink dispenser.
Stir in 2 bottles of ginger ale or club soda (carbonated drink), per container of peach slush and stir gently (it is not necessary to make the pieces dissolve, this will keep the punch cold).
Serves 24, each 1 quart container will serve 6 people.
