Peach Jello Salad Homemade RecipePeach Jello Salad or Dessert

Kids and adults will love this simple recipe that can be used for either a salad or a dessert.

This refreshing fruit dish is a great recipe to include at Christmas Dinner or Thanksgiving or Easter Dinners because, even if smaller children don't like much of the menu, they usually WILL chose to eat some delicious Jello with fruit!

This recipe can be prepared and served in the same dish! Use a 9" x 13" baking dish, or a similar size (3 quart) casserole dish or bowl.

Jello and Peaches Dessert or Salad Recipe

Ingredients

4 packages (85 gram size ea.) peach flavoured "Jello" (flavoured gelatin)

1 can (796 ml. size) sliced peaches in water or syrup

3 cups boiling water

3 cups **cold water

Directions

Drain the sliced peaches.

**If the sliced peaches were preserved in water, you can reserve the water and use it as part of the "cold water" ingredient. If the sliced peaches were preserved in syrup it is better to not to use the syrup as it tends to prevent the Jello from setting firmly.

Add the gelatin/Jello crystals to the baking dish or bowl.

Add the 3 cups of boiling water to the crystals in the bowl, stirring well to ensure all the crystals are completely dissolved.

Add the 3 cups of cold water to the gelatin mixture and stir well.

Transfer the gelatin mixture to the refrigerator to allow it to become semi-firm - NOT fully set. This will take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, but does vary, so be sure to check the Jello from time to time!

Test the Jello by gently dipping a metal spoon into the gelatin - you will notice when the Jello has begun to thicken by how easily it slides off the spoon.

When the Jello has begun to thicken, remove it from the refrigerator and gently fold in the drained, sliced peaches.

Return the dish to the refrigerator and allow the Peaches and Jello Salad or Dessert to set completely for a few more hours or over-night.

If using this recipe as a dessert, garnish with whipped cream, ice cream or whipped dessert topping if desired.

ENJOY!
